Healthy Living Ministerial Taskforce
Terms of Reference
The Taskforce terms of reference are:
- To coordinate the current Government’s initiatives that promote healthy eating and physical activity to address the growing incidence of obesity. In particular, to foster an effective working arrangements between departments and agencies to ensure a whole of government approach.
- Provide policy advice for a Government response to overweight and obesity that will encourage, inform and give good example about healthy lifestyle choices.
- To advise on issues and developments in nutrition and physical activity to support the importance of a balanced approach to promote healthy habits through out life.
- Identify potential collaboration within and between relevant Government agencies.
- To foster and recognise the contribution of the food industry and non government sector to encouraging healthy lifestyles of Australians.
Membership
The Minister for Health and Ageing chair’s the Taskforce. Core members are:
- Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts
- Minister for Education, Science and Technology
- Minister for Transport and Regional Services
- Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
- Minister for Arts and Sport
- Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Ageing
- Departmental Secretary of each portfolio
