Submissions

Submissions were forwarded to the Department in a range of formats including Word, RTF, PDF and handwritten or typed hardcopy. In order to make submissions available as soon as possible, most submissions have been published in their original format. Handwritten submissions have been scanned into PDF documents. The text of email submissions has been reproduced in Word format.

The Department has received a number of submissions with attachments, including DVDs, PowerPoint presentations, books, journals articles, previously published reports, dissertations, extracts from newspapers, magazines, and other material. The Review Team considered all information received in preparing the Review Report for the Minister. However, given the volume of material received, these attachments to submissions will not be published on the Department's website.

Submissions classified by the author as 'Confidential' will not be published on the website and will not be made available to the public. Submissions received without the submittors' names have been published under a number only.

We have received many personal accounts from individuals. These provide a valuable insight into people's experience of maternity care in Australia and were considered by the Review Team in preparing the Review Report for the Minister.

However, to ensure that the privacy of third parties (including family members) is protected, and that the Commonwealth complies with its own legal obligations, some submissions are being published with the submitter's first name only and/or with third party details removed. Private contact details (eg, addresses, phone numbers and emails) of personal submissions from individuals have also been removed. There may be minor formatting changes as a result.
